Every year, the Flathead County Sheriff’s Posse proudly supports dozens of community events across the valley. From high-visibility festivals and parades to critical public-safety deployments, our members volunteer thousands of hours to help keep our residents and visitors safe.
Our presence at local events is more than just standing watch—we provide trained, mission-ready teams who assist the Sheriff’s Office with crowd management, traffic control, emergency response, missing-person searches, mounted patrol operations, youth engagement, and community outreach.
These events not only strengthen public safety—they strengthen community connection.
One of the largest events in the valley, UTBS brings tens of thousands of people to our area. The Posse plays a critical role in public safety operations, including:
Crowd and venue management
Mounted and K9 support
Emergency action planning
Lost child response
Coordination with the Sheriff’s Office, fire/EMS, and festival staff
Our volunteers contribute thousands of hours during this event alone.
A cornerstone of community tradition, the Posse assists with:
Daily fair patrols
Rodeo crowd safety
Traffic and parking support
Mounted patrol presence
Emergency coordination
This is one of our most visible events of the year and a showcase of the professionalism of our Reserve Deputies, Auxiliary Officers, and Explorers.
One of Montana’s most beloved parades. The Posse manages:
Crowd safety along a tightly packed route
Traffic control and incident response
Coordination with local fire, EMS, and parade officials
Our team ensures a safe celebration for thousands of spectators.
At competitions such as The Event at Rebecca Farm, the Posse provides:
Traffic and parking management
Public safety patrols
Mounted unit presence
Support for medical and emergency services
We provide trained Posse support for numerous events throughout the year, including:
Happy’s Inn concerts
Farmer’s markets
Holiday events
Fundraisers and charity runs
School and youth programs
Each event we support directly reduces the workload on patrol deputies while increasing public safety county-wide.
While many of our events are planned months in advance, others come without warning. The Posse frequently assists the Sheriff’s Office during:
Search & rescue operations
Missing or endangered persons
Natural disasters
Traffic incidents
Community emergencies
Our members train year-round to respond quickly, professionally, and effectively.
Our youth Explorers (ages 14–21) participate in:
Community festivals
Parades
Training conferences
Competitions
Public safety demonstrations
They serve alongside Posse members as the next generation of law-enforcement leaders.
If your organization is hosting an event and could benefit from trained public-safety volunteers, we are here to help.
Services we can provide:
Traffic control
Crowd management
Emergency action planning
Mounted patrol presence
Radio communications support
Search & rescue standby
General law enforcement support (as appropriate under authority of the Sheriff)
Event support is offered at no cost, but donations to the Posse are deeply appreciated and directly fund training, equipment, youth programs, and emergency response capabilities.
